don't think he's going to make it =(

$208 later, I don't thinkl Leopold is going to make it :( He is so weak, they did take a lot of blood, but still, I don't know if he has the strenght to hold on for results. He can barely bask I have to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't fall. They gave some food through a tube, but he said it was for birds  He said it was basically the same thing as the stuff for reptiles. Poor Leopold =( He is getting old, he's 4, so it could be an internal issue.

So the verdict is in :( Leopold has kidney disease. Only treatment is fluids and hope he can pull through and live out however much longer he has :( Poor guy.

Awww, that is very sad news. Poor Leopold. Why can't chameleons stay healthy and live much longer lives?! I hate it when they are really poorly. :(

I am keeping you and Leo in my prayers. Hopefully it will be like Elizadolots said and he's just weak and will still recover.

I hope so, but his kidney levels are off the charts, normal is I think he said around 10 and he's over 50 which is where the system stops so who knows how high they actually are, and his liver enzymes are pretty bad too. But he could pull a miracle, any suggestions on a food mix to try to force feed him with? Someone suggested some reptile critical care stuff, does anyone know about this stuff?

I tried giving our cham reptaboost and it seemed to do more harm then good.
I don't know what the critical care stuff is but what I use is a purée of gutloaded roaches and/or crickets, purified water and a little calcium. It works well. Everybody calls it "bug juice".

I've used the Repta Boost as recommended by Dr. Alfonso on and off for years with my old guy, Mufasa and never had any problems.

i also swear repti boost (repti aid) here in ontario. but i am the one who suggested it to cheyenneohh "now i feel bad" but i have alwas had good success with it.

Repti boost and rept aid are not the same here in the US, maybe there was a mix up? I will try the reptiboost along with some of the "bug juice" and maybe some fruit/veggie baby food like I used to give Molly.

Edit: I have him in a nice warm shower right now, at least he is able to balance on a branch. Even if he doesn't drink, the water is nice and warm and the room in steamy so he can warm up. I have to figure out a "sick bed" for him so he can stay warm without having to climb up.

It's only $25 for something like 300 doses. I would try it anyways as you never know if it will help him. Since it's an herbal/holistic type supplement it may effect each chameleon differently.

I had a female who had persistent mouth rot and it got better with reptaid even though she had been treated 2-3 times with different antibiotics. It just kept coming back until I used reptaid and now I am a strong advocate of it.

Is repaid at ur local petsmart?

Yeah it's available here but I don't have anymore money. Just spent $222 on him plus my dog had her annual exam today. If I get paid tomorrow, after I set aside my bills I will see if I can get the reptaid too.

I will let you all know how he is in the morning. He is sleeping nicely on a branch at the moment.
