Does the basking light needs to be white?

Hi guys,

I've bought a 60watt spot light that gives off yellowish light. I've read from brad's cham blog and he said basking spot should be white in color. Can anyone explain why?

It doesn't really matter. I use house lights because the other ones get really exspensive because of the ten lizards.

Yes it does not matter. Bulbs will give off heat and that's what you need.

Not different colors. That doesn't effect it. Yellow or White is fine if it is the same wattage then it shouldn't make a difference.

By white light I mean visible light (not a red or black light).
People sometimes make the mistake of using a red heat lamp for a basking light. The bulb needs to produce heat and light.

True. I think he meant the temps differ in the two colors?

I didn't get that from the original post on this thread...but that doesn't matter.
White or yellow ... kind of the same thing as far as I'm concrned.

Thats what I was saying. But someone was saying that the temps differ.
