Does my Cham have a respiratory infection?

I have been an owner of many reptiles and a few months ago I began to do the research and build for my first chameleon. About two weeks ago I finally got my male veiled chameleon from a local breeder. He is about 2 months old. He is in a 4 ft tall, 3 ft wide, 3 ft deep custom made enclosure. I first noticed that while basking he would gape his mouth a lot so i moved the moved the basking build higher figuring he was getting to hot. The basking is now usually between 82-85 degrees but now thats its moved he climbs the screen to get closer to the light and continues to occasionally gape his mouth when he is up there. I noticed when handling him that occasionally he opens his mouth and makes a little squeak noise. He does this every so often when being handled and when I am in his enclosure. I know I may just be worried but I was wondering if he has a respiratory infection because I have already grown quite attached to the little guy and want to make sure he's healthy. The closest reptile and exotic pet vet. is an hour and forty-five minutes away and I have a busy schedule so I wanted to know what others thought before I took time off to take him to the vet. He eats around 10 crickets at night and 10 crickets in the late afternoon and I do see him drinking a lot. He is very active and to me doesn't appear to be sick i'm just concerned by the little squeaks he makes and if he does have an infection i'd like to catch it and treat it before it gets worse. Could it just be him trying to hiss at me? I will try to get a video of him doing it! Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Hey man,

Is your cham alright now? What was it?

I have a panther who's getting towards 1, who gapes every now and again and, like yours clicks every now and again whilst being handled, even though he appears to be quite happy being handled!

I'd be interested to find out what you discovered.
