does he looked burned

I have noticed Kamo our 3 month old having a grey tint color and appearing darker in color. his uvb is 8 in above basking branch and i have never seen him climb on top of screen. is he getting burned from the uvb?

Males should get grey and even black along the ridges of the head.

If he got burnt, then it would show up as a very light area, as it lost the ability to go dark temporally.
 
I don't see any burns. Maybe he's just getting ashy before he sheds?

ok good to know. had him for 2 weeks now he has always been a light green color and started noticing the darker color and grey as shown in photo but makes sense what your saying. Appreciate the feedback as chameleons are new to me

Chameleons are dry shedders and don't need any help. Just make sure as he sheds he doesn't end up with stuck shed around a toe or the tip of his tail (anywhere it could constrict) and let him do his thing. When they are babies they will shed their whole body at once, usually in a matter of hours. As adults, they tend to have partial sheds: their head, then weeks later a leg, however each cham is growing, so you see less of the full-body sheds. Though my guy just had a full-body shed and he's over 2 years old.
