Does anyone else over worry about their chameleon(s)?

I know I take care for Night Crawler, my baby veiled chameleon, but I can not help but worry he will somehow get MBD. I dust his food, gut load, and have the uv bulbs. I do all I can for him. I just keep seeing pictures of these poor chams with MBD and can not help but worry that might somehow get it, too. Does anyone else have this problem?

gutload feeders and get on a strict dusting schedule and your little guy will be fine. im sure genetics have something to do with it also, but you cant do anything about that.

I did a little bit when I started out. Don't worry, if you have a proper gutload, good suppliment schedule, and the right uvb lighting that you replace every 6 months then I would not worry about it. You can take your guy to the vet and get a check up to settle your worries and also post a picture of his whole body and the limbs and the members here can identify any problems that can be identified by looking at him

good point, i forgot to mention the lighting. give chances to get natural sunlight whenever you can, and temperature outside permits.

Yes sunlight is imo about a hundred times better than artificial light. Think about building an outdoor enclosure that you can take your cham out for a few hours at a time to soak up the rays or take them out on your hand or a plant. Just be very careful that he doesn't escape!

Genetics is a copout studies have been done that show 75% of diseases are related to the environment in which the being lives in
so yes a strict dusting schedule and properly gut loaded food provided they should be fine
although yea I do worry :p

haha all the time i worry (not about mbd though, never had a cham get it...knock on wood) just stick to the schedge..:D

Thank all of you, just ever so much for your advice. I do all of that he loves to play outside. He usually stays super close I me on one or the plants, an I watch him, of course. I just worry. He has been to the vet once I have only had him for 1.5 weeks, and I took him to the vet after I got him to make sure he was doing well. She said he was fine. I just still worry. I will post pics. Tomorrow when my laptop is fixed. :) thank you all.

Me worry? I am a long time keeper, a moderator on the forum - me worry about my chams ONLY 24/7/365. I still sit and cry when I lose one, and sadly I have lost a good few. It doesn't matter how much grief my husband and a lot of friends here give me for crying, I love them and it still hurts. I also sit and go through everything I did or didn't do. I usually blame myself for some part of it. I worry about thinks you probable don't even know to worry about. It is just part of who most of us are.

It sounds like you are doing a good job for Night Crawler, I know you will worry, but offset that by knowing you are doing every thing you can.

Thank you. I am sure I will worry all the time over more that I have to learn. I spent about two months just reading up on things about chams and what I need for them before I even got him. I just scared I will somehow do something wrong. He is my first Cham. :)

I am just a pm away if you need me.:)

Thank you just ever so much. :) I may have to take you up on that. lol. He makes me nervous sometimes, but I do not know what I would do without him. He is so sweet.

Oh yesssss - I worry about my chams

You are not alone my friend. They are such amazing creatures and depend on us to keep them healthy and well in general. Any caged animal is our responsibility and we need to take it very seriously. I have ones that are very friendly and super social and love to come out and hang out and play on a set up we created with branches and soft puffy rugs on the floors all around it in case they fall.

Oh yes I know your feelings: I allways look at his joints if they are ok. Glad to hear that I am not the only over-worried person :)
