Do silkworms climb

Can silkworms climb glass or plastic? More specifically the babies/hatchlings. My mom keeps telling me that they can because it happened when she was little and did them for a science fair project. She told me that they were all over her dresser. But from my experience small and large do not climb glass and I see others have them in plastic and glass as well. My set up was a 2.5quart deli style paint bucket with a big hole cut on top and in between the bucket and the lid I sandwiched a piece of cloth so that the container could breathe and the worms couldnt get out

I've put them in very shallow plastic containers without tops and never had one escapee. Never seen them climb anything smooth-surfaced.

I have mine is a tupperware container that is about 2 inches deep with NO lid and I have never had one crawl out! (well that I know of anyways)!

the highest ive seen them go is a couple of inches and i think that they are climbing small silk threads

Pretty sure that as long as they have noms to eat they wont have a reason to try and escape
