Hi there, just wanted some advise on my panthers eyes ~ they look puffy to me, i also have a female of the same age and i've not notice hers do the same.

He's 10mths old, and i've owned him for 7 mths, general health is absolutly fine, eating, drinking, pooing and colouring all great.

I only first noticed this last night, and quickly looked up on here, all i could find was that panthers do puff their eyes to clean them, but no pictures.
This morning when he got up they were fine, back to normal ~ but this afternoon back to puffy as pic shows!

Just want to put my mine at rest, do they look normal or should i get the little guy cheacked out at the vets?

Thanks in advance for any help or advise :)

The eyes do not look good and are swollen ... also he looks more like a she to me. Those are not the colors of a 10 month old male.

Have you tried increasing mistings. What kind of plants do you have in the enclosure? You may want to make a vet visit.

No, they were fine again this moning when he got up, but have gone puffy again this afternoon!!
I brought a breeding pair (which i don't intend to do) 7mths ago, which came from a reptile show in germany.
I have been misting him well 3times a day with warm water ~ as i said his general health seems fine apart from his eyes.

Totally agree with Ryan. The rostral process is also very unadvanced, so I doubt that's a male. If their eyes stay like that for any length of time I'd suggest you look into your vitamin A supplementation as well as your lighting. If it doesn't change soon I'd probably want to get in contact with a vet before it gets any worse.

It is allergy season : )

To be serious though I've never heard of anything like this but "he" definitly appears to be a she from those photos.

I hate to break it to you but, That is a she in the pictures not a he.

I have seen this with one of my panthers.

Try this. Mist a few more times a day. Make sure you spray her directly. I waited until she began to open her eye then sprayed again. She would clean them over and over. After a couple of days I have not seen it happen agian. With mine it was only one eye that had an issue.

A vet is always a good idea.

I agree that the eyes do look worrisome... I would consider a vet if the swelling continues. I also agree that this is a female and not a male. Do you have a pic of your female? Maybe you have the two mixed up?

Having some trouble uploading pics ~ just keeps beeping at me
Will keep TRYING!!!!!! AAARRRRGGGGHHH!!

She is quite abit smaller but pretty much same colourings.
Will be very disapointed if he is a she, as only wanted a male but would only sell me them as a breeding pair. Pretty hard to get hold of in the UK.
Will keep trying with the pics!!

Thanks Ryan, its at least reasuring that you too have seen the same!!
Will mist directly as you suggest over the weekend, if no change, will take him/her to vets monday.

Still struggling with photos, damn thing!!! But the two of them are pretty identical apart from he/she is bigger. He/she does have orange banding while resting!!

Still no luck with photos ~ will have a breather from laptop for a min or it end up out the window!!!!!

Will keep on trying ~ want to get both their pics on here, as will be back to repilt shop on sun to complain (if you think their both female!)
As i said, only wanted a male as females are alot more technical with eggs etc,
and their my first chams!

As soon as i can get pics on will appreciate your comments, but if you guys are pretty sure my little Clive is infact Clivette, i'm pretty sure i then have two females, as she is exactly the same colouring but smaller.

What a situation........... really want a male but sooo attached to these guys!!
And don't think my finances will strech to another viv (

Definitely make a vet visit. My cham has that in one eye right now, turns out it is retained shed in her eye. Got a shot of Vitamin A and had to increase the humidity in the cage.

That is what my vet told me.

Looks like they are both girls.

I have another question.. Is that "Lucky Bamboo" plant in the cage?

That is a toxic plant and should probably be removed. It may be contributing to the eye problem.

That plant is called bamboo but is not bamboo at all. It looks like the perfect plant but can be an issue.

Its not a Bamboo plant, think it must be dried out bamboo stem of some sort,or may not even be real but think it is!!! it is sealed at both ends, and attached from one end of the viv to the other, brought it in the reptile shop i brought my chams. Do you think thats ok?

I was curious about the spiral one in the upper left hand corner of the picture in the tank.

The green one with the bands on it. See link for pic
