Someone told me that dubias have enough calcium in them naturally so i wouldnt need to dust them with calcium... Any truth to that.?

I dont think dubia have much natural calcium unless you are feeding them a high calcium gutload.

I know butterworms are high in calcium, but roaches and cricks are pretty low.
That's why you need to gut load. They make great 'vehicles' for transfering nutrients to your cham because they will eat anything and everything.

One of the major reason we dust feeders is to correct the calcium to phosphorus ratio. Phosphorus can interfere with calcium absoprtion. Roaches do need to be dusted with calcium. We want the calcium to phosphorus ratio to be atleast 2:1.

Here is an awesome chart that shows calcium to phosphorus ratios of many food items. Insects are mixed in with the veggies and frutis.

Updating chart, numbers were all incorrect......I had a copy paste issue. I do not know how to delete the Thumbnail. The more I look up these numbers the more they vary from site to site. I converted this chart from a word doc and I think the numbers are all wrong. I will continue to try to update, but please ignore the thubnail below.

Here is a chart from some research I have done.

Thanks for the great information! I just printed the nutritional information of bugs and fruits/veggies out to post in my cham room.

When reviewing however, there is a discrepancy between this table and the link above regarding the calcium/phos ratio of superworms. I think your table is incorrect, I have always heard superworms are high in phos, and this is backed up by the ratio in your link (1:18). No way are supers the same ratio as phoenix worms.

Agreed, I must have a copy paste error. Thanks.

OK, here is my updates chart. It is really hard to find consistent information so if you find some better sources or information let me know. I like to try to keep a chart for easy reference. Depending on which sites I look at the information varies greatly. Maybe others have more accurate information? Let me know what your thoughts are.
