Such a great article. Thank you! I'm surprised I haven't been my cham sigh at me with all sides eye she gives me it would definitely be on par for her personality. I would also love to see a cham sneeze!
Chameleons hoot!?!?! What are they part owl!? Hahah that's so crazy to me! I'm always playing music when I'm feeding my guy so this is really interesting to me. I never play it too loud or close and I've never seen him react to any of it but it sure would be cool if we could jam together!
I'd like to know how they produce it without vocal chords. I suppose if they had the right anatomical structure, and could channel air in just the right way to produce a sort of whistling sound (instead of hissing).
But apparently, there's some supporting evidence(?)
I imagine SOMEONE out there would be able to capture it probably would need some special hi-tech recording equipment but man I'd love to hear what that sounds like!
Kenny Barnett did studies of chameleons hooting many years ago...he had sound track of the hooting up on the Internet then but I think it's been disabled now. I'll see if I can find it @Klyde O'Scope .
