do any of you know?

I don't know I don't agree, but that's just my opinion. Like I said earlier, I got a Jackson's as my first chameleon and I think having him has been super easy, but everyone thinks they're a hard species to take care of for some reason. Both species are really similar, but let me see if I can get some stuff together to help you:

Temperatures: Heat spot/Ambient/Nighttime
Panther: 85-90* / 75-85* / 65-75* (sorry, these are in F)
Veiled: 85-95* / 70-80* / 50-75*

Humidity
Panther: 65-80%
Veiled: ~50-65%

Stuff like diet is nearly the same, I think veileds eat some fruits too. Minimum adult enclosure size is the same, temperament can be very similar (I've hear veileds can be more mean, but one of my panthers is pretty mean, so it goes both ways), and watering requirements are similar. Both need to be misted several times a day to maintain adequate humidity and to give them water to drink.

I think that's about it. That I know of, I don't think panthers are any less hardy. They are both equally recommended as first time chameleons. But veileds are cheaper, which is nice. Hope that helps!

There was just a post where a member detailed a great looking cage he build. He even made a pdf file of one he built. I think he's from England [jimsilk???]. if you search im sure you'll find it.
