diy misters?

Is there a way to make your own mister? I don't want to run it off my own water supply as my dad wouldn't let me and sounds risky + expensive. Also, I don't think I will have the expertease to do it.

upon reading through a few threads ive noticed it can actually be better to PURCHASE rather than build your own. I'm in the UK and struggling to find any for decent prices. Anyone know?

Both look a bit long winded to me.

joshcrane what do you mean by that? Are you talking about if I made my own?

just spend the money and buy one. in the long run you will be better off. if you dont have the finances right now just hand spray until you can afford a system. dont skimp on the system either buy a good one. remember you get what you pay for, and if you try to build one, it will never work quite like you want it to.

the complete systems you buy include nozzles, resevoir(with bulkhead), t-fittings,hose,pump,timer,and cage adapter if needed.

so the only thing not readily available is the nozzles and the pump, the rest can be bought local. you could prob even find a descent nozzle from your hardware store. the only challenge would be finding a good pump and appropriate hoses and connectors.

It all depends on how valuable your time is. It's kind of like linux. :) Yes, you can piece something together and save a few bucks, but if you have to come back and redo it later, well, you didn't really save anything and wasted quite a bit of time and effort.

That's especially true with the pumps. Some folks on other boards brag about the "deal" they got on a ShurFlo pump on eBay, then a few months later, they're bragging about the next deal they got to replace the $49 pump that just burnt out on them. Yeah, you got quite a deal on that noisy pump that's in the garbage! That was money well spent, wasn't it?

Although, I have met quite a few folks including a local dart frog lady because of these "great deals".

I now have a One Cage Special that includes everything you need for one cage except for a reservoir (pump, nozzle, screen cage adapter, timer, tubing, etc.).

Hi mate im in england too,
I bought a lucky reptile super rain and it comfortably does my 4 panthers but the problem is the timing as it doesnt have a timer built in the ones you can buy over here (argos) have 1min on off cycles and it pumps a lot of water in a 1 min so then ya need drainage good system though it cost £95 (around $180)

oh cheers bing where did you actually purchase yours from? And are you saying you can plug it into one of those plug timmers so it comes on and off when you want?

Hi mate im from doncaster so i bought it from a big reptile show they have near us (at the dome) i think they are easy to find on net/ebay though. Yeah i plug it into a timer they were 2 for a £5 from argos or if thats too much water just switch it on when needed at socket. It comes with 3 spray heads and 5m pipe but spares and extra heads etc are availble online. It saves alot of time and aching wrists (from spraying!!)
