Discoid food taste test

I am trying a test to see what foods my Discoid roaches prefer. I am using one of those daily pill containers, filling each little compartment with different foods to see which one gets eaten fastest. Partially out of boredom, but also I have been using a mix of potato buds, wheat germ, Gerber grain baby cereal and wondering which ingredients might be better or a waste.

So far the winner is Tang, the powdered orange drink, they also seem to really like Gerber baby cereal and parmesan cheese! And also a special dry dog food that is definitely preferred over others I am trying. (one of the results pictures below)

So far I have also tried kitten formula dry food, corn meal, Ovaltine, buttermilk powder, crushed cheerios among other things. I was thinking the Tang might be better than whole oranges because they spoil so quickly, maybe the Tang would be better and stimulate the breeding the way the oranges do. I’ll try to follow up and post a good Discoid roach mix!

That is absolutely first rate, fun science. I am going to buy a pill box tomorrow. I tried to compare mayonaise to siracha but I ended up with a mess! Bravo!
