Dilemma living walls

Hi so I will b getting hybrid enclosure and was wanting to go bioactive with living walls. I initially thought about walls lined with cork but after watching a couple of videos have seen them done with foam and eco earth. Anyone done both thoughts advice welcome. Thanks

First, I don't do bio-active.

That said, cork works; it can be in tiles, panels, or pieces of cork round. Coconut fiber/coire comes in many forms that can be applied or glued to a backer; some comes in sheets or pads. Mosses & lichens also work. How to Make a Moss Wall | Use Pre-Made Moss Panels.
There are also pre-formed enclosure backgrounds.

I have a living wall in my chameleon enclosure made by planting climbing vines ( Epipremnum aureum & Tradescantia zebrina both give some color ) in planters at the bottom of a piece of ceiling egg crate that the vines climb. It's working great, and the chameleon will be able to safely climb it as well.

My bearded dragon has a background covered in slate backsplash tiles with various air plants taking root between the tiles.

There's really no limit to alternatives. You just have to do a little homework in searching ideas.

Yeah I'm trying to look at my options long before I get my new enclosures. I may even leave the walls the way they are as possibly the more complex the bigger risk of thinks going wrong. As they are not peanuts . Thanks for your input

I plan my projects well in advance as well. Everything I've done in my enclosures can be easily un- or re-done with no damage to the "real" enclosure walls. The egg crate is removable, and the slate tile is applied to a piece of luan, tacked to the back plywood wall with a few brads.

The bottom of my enclosure came with 2 options for the bottom; a piece of PVC, and a screen. PVC is no good as I have to be able to drain any excess misting, so I used the screen. The drain pan was poorly designed for this, so I put another piece of egg crate on the tray, and the screen on top of that. I can put plant pots/planters directly on the screen now without damaging it, because the weight is supported & distributed by the egg crate—anywhere on the bottom.

If you're going bioactive, your substrate will be completely different—several inches of drainage & soil.
Point is, do your homework, read & watch a lot, and use your imagination; you may come up with something no-one has thought of before—maybe a better way of doing something—at least a different way—or not. ?‍

O I will im not that vain a person to do something that pleases me aesthetically my girls welfare is no 1. This will be my base

I used Great Stuff foam and covered it with coco coir...foamed in plant pots. I really like the way it looks but have a bit of regret as it took up space for my boy. However, I do have plans that I can hopefully make happen to give him a double sized enclosure by attaching 2 XL ReptiBreezes together. For my girls I just tacked up panels of coco coir...doesn’t look nearly as nice but it works. Eventually I hope to give them prettier upgrades as well.

Yeah thats also something I was thinking about space. Thanks I really only was toying with the foam idea as I watched a video and it looked really nice dilemma over no foam ? thanks
