Hey guys, iv been reading about my new big guy, and stumbled across a blog of a person who breeds them and studies them and said there are different types of them. Which also effects their colors. My guys throat when he puffs up to tell me to back off is red. It has brown but in the creases it is dark red. His belly on the underside has red too and his sides have a almost light blue mixed in with a muddy color. I could see better when the sun hit him on the ride home. When he is not stressed he turns the lightest shade of brown, almost beige. His casque is more pointed than round. Brown around the eyes. His eyes are gold flake colored. Is this true about the different types?

Yes they are almost as varietied as the panthers. Even the 20k or so in Florida looks completely different. There is even a theory that the spiny is the same animal, just a different breed. I really would like to get my hands on the bright red sand colored ones. Or the black and white ones with bright red patches.

Mines just brown bark colored that can get alittle green if he really tried, can can turn what i call strawberries-n-creme (all white with pink lines) when its really hot in the summer.
