Determining parasites

I haven't acquired my chameleon yet. I'm currently searching for a flap neck.

I was advised by several people to only buy captive-bred, but I'm learning there really are none with this species, and it's our favorite.

Here are my questions:
1. Is there a way to determine, upon arrival, if the cham has parasites?

2. What would I need to do to get rid of them? (one distributor told me I only needed to give calcium & vitamins. This made no sense to me)

3. If I needed to take him to a vet right away, how long after arrival should I wait?

Best practice would be to take the chameleon to a vet and have a fecal tests done.
