He need sto be misted with warm water and make sure your water is set out for at leasdt 24 hours so thers no chlorine many people over lok this step . I use aloe condtionaer in mine about a drop in every gallon after i pull it from the ro system. Then i let it set over night and you got good water for cham try a little pedia light in a eye drippe and drip some into his mouth dont mist him so much in the face as this could get into his lungs. Run your dripper twice a day and mist three times a day untill all clear! The white part in chams poop is his pee the dark stuff is his solid matter . White good orange not so good = dry cham

We had success in feeding the injected mealworms. I only fed two because I don't want him to get impacted. I will repeat the proccess with waxies tommorow.

How true is this? I have never heard that before Jasper sill some times come directly into the spray face first... What about with misting systems that go off when your not home and your chameleon is right in the "line of fire"?

Mine like warm water, try to use warm or hot water (it will cool as it comes out of the mister, just make sure it doesn't come out hot... just warm). If you don't have one already, I recommend getting one of those pesticide pumps from Lowes or Home Depot. Fill it with the warm water, pump it, and let it run for a good while. I have one that will give my Jackson's a 15-20 minute shower in the morning, and it's excellent for getting the humidity up and giving him plenty of time to drink where I don't have to stand in front of him holding the pump. I would just try to give him really long showers, with plenty of opportunities to drink all he wants at a time, followed by smaller mistings throughout the day.

Hornworms are just about the best feeder for this, they are just all liquid on the inside. And supers are better than mealworms, so if you can, use those over mealies.

And the water getting into his lungs can be true, but it's not something to worry about in an older cham. It's like you being in a shower, there is always a chance some will get into your lungs if you breathe but it's not serious. It's dangerous for very small chams because then the water droplets are much bigger and have more risk, since their little nostrils are so small. But trust your chameleon to have enough sense to know what to do with water in his face. Most absolutely love staring at the nozzle and drinking with their eyes closed. My Othello has done it for 10 months now and he's doing great.

Oh, tottaly! He is a healthy dude! Im just a bit worried about the urate and barley sunken in eyes. I just finished feeding him two injected waxies. I will be feeding him two injected waxies tommorow, and one the remaining day. Is this too many wax worms? I know they are just little balls of fat...

I'm going to order some hornworms from great lakes hornworms very soon.

Instead of wax worms which are just globs of fat, and meal worms that can cause impaction and hold little nutritional value...

I would suggest purchasing some horn worms over the internet and injecting them them with a mixture of water and pedialyte, very very very diluted pedialyte.

a "cup" of horn worms + shipping will usually run around 25 dollars, but thats for about 25-30 nicely sized worms. If that is too expensive ( which for some it is ) I would then suggest Dubia injected with the same method.

Injecting crickets with water usually results in them exploding... at least thats what happened when I tried ( IMO I inject just a bit too much water.... ) Ive heard it does not work well at all with super worms though.

Next off, misting twice a day for two minutes is not good enough. If it has to be twice a day ( I.E schedule - work, school e.t.c e.t.c ) then mist for 3-4 minutes instead of just two. If you can the ideal method would be 3 times a day for at least three minutes of continuous spray. Make sure no water puddles up on the bottom before they go to sleep or you are just asking for a URI.

Eyes sunken in is usually *the* indicator of dehydration, but whats the frequency of the poop? like the time between this poop and the last?

The long a poo stays inside the animal the more moisture is leeched out of it and it will naturally darken before exiting. I.E my older male poops about twice a week, both will have tiny tiny bits of orange on them, but his eyes are still nice and full. The fact that he walks right up to my spray bottle and drinks from the nozzle probably helps though....

I was just about to post about his feces. I have trouble finding them to be honest, and when I do, I don't know if its a fresh sample. I have my cage pretty crowded with hiding spots and its hard to find little poos! Any advice?

Secondly, I am apprehensive to mist more often because it just drips off the leaves and onto the floor of the enclosure. If i mist for too long, I get a mess. I am looking into getting a drawer to put under the enclosure to catch water, and once I do, I will be able to go all out!
Currently the dripper is draining into a bowl under the pedistool for the umbrella tree.

I have to take his tree out and its a pain to empty.... I need a better solution. I will search the forum tonight for good drainage ideas.

you can inject any feeder. this is a daily thing for me with my grandpa cham. he is picky as hell & doesnt like to drink. its not as good as hornies or silks but making your crix really juicy with a good wet gutload makes a big difference & will help with the overall hydration too. when i pick up my crix a bit of dark green liquid will be comming out of their mouth & i know theyre good to go.
