Hello everyone! This is officially my first post as a new chameleon owner, I just wish it were under better circumstances. I'll start of with the basics:
Yoshi:
Your Chameleon - NosybeXAmbilobe Panther, male, best age estimate: 3 months, had him since January 16th.
Handling - I try my best to limit my handling to 2-4 times a week, cage cleaning day included.
Feeding - He eats about 5-10 small crickets each day, usually with 3-5 mealworms and a few wax worms or superworms. I usually hand feed him some worms when I get up in the morning and put the rest in his bowl. Then I put the crickets in his cage.I gut load with a commercial feed and cricket quenchers.
Supplements - I dust crickets and worms with zoo med calcium without d3 everyday and zoo med calcium with d3 and rep-cal herptivite every other Sunday.
Watering - I mist his cage in the morning heavily with a pressurized sprayer, I also have two small dixie cups with a small hole poked in the bottom as drippers. I sometimes put ice cubes in the cups too. I mist 2-5 times a day. He usually runs out excited to drink in the morning. I sometimes see him drinking throughout the day too, although I am not always home to see.
Fecal Description - Feces seem normal, brown poo with white urates, about 1:3 or 1:4 ratio. Some more dry, some a little more moist, but overall pretty consistent and normal looking. He has not been tested for parasites.
History - He was purchased from a breeder at an expo on January 16th
Cage Info:
Cage Type - He lives in a small sized zoo med screen cage (16x16x20)
Lighting - I use a national geographic 5.0 CFL UVB bulb and a 45W incandescent house bulb for his basking lamp.
Temperature - The temperature gradient goes from around 70 at the lowest point he goes, to about 90 at his basking spot. It doesnt get lower than 60 at night with the window cracked for fresh air exchange and a space heater running constantly. I use a digital thermometer/hygrometer combo.
Humidity - The humidity levels range from 40-80% depending on how recently and often I spray. I achieve this with multiple misting throughout the day and by keeping live plants. This is measured with my digital hygrometer.
Plants - Yes I have live plants, I believe my big plant is a ficus, I also have a small air plant and some kind of little succulent on a moss ball.
Placement - I keep his cage in my bedroom, which I barely use for anything but sleeping in. The top of the cage is a little under five feet from the floor.
Location - I live in Portland Oregon
Current Problem - My little Yoshi has had quite a month between being brought to a new place and getting sick with a LRI. I had him examined by a vet with chameleon experience who confirmed his infection prescribing baytril. This is his third day of treatment and he seems to have perked up quite a bit being more active and colorful. However, when I checked on him last night I saw he was dark while sleeping! He has never been anything but bright and colorful while sleeping up until now. He wasn't black or dark brown like he's stressed but more like his relaxed dark green and brown colors. Is this something to be concerned about? I have searched many threads and websites and can't find anything conclusive. Here are some pictures of my little guy.
