dark chameleon

does a jade plant work?
You will want to use the ones from this link that say Veiled tested. https://chameleonacademy.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Chameleon-Plants-122819.pdf

I would recommend cancelling the order for the 16x16x30and getting the 2x2x4. She will need the room.

Please start reading the husbandry program at this link. It is a wealth of accurate info. Ask questions here. https://chameleonacademy.com/chameleon-husbandry-program-getting-started-with-chameleons/

my mom really doesn’t like the idea of getting a tank that is 4ft tall, she really isn’t that big

That is what is required. Is your mom a fan of having you live in a shoe box? How about a closet?
Your chameleon needs the space to move around in her territory...she is a wild animal.

This is the minimum size enclosure she needs as an adult cham. She might be pretty small now, and you might be able to get away with a 16x16 cage for now, but she will outgrow this cage in a few months. Since she's a female, she will also need space for a lay bin. Think of it like a dog that needs space to run around and play, or how fish require minimum tank sizes to swim around in: Chameleons need a certain amount of space to roam around too in order for them to thrive.

You can try showing this forum to your mom while you try to convince her to get the larger cage, and you can always refer to the care sheets either on this site or from Chameleon Academy as well.

alright i will try to cancel the order, thank you, i hope kiwi will be happier now!

I understand you were given the wrong info at the petstore. They usually don't know much about chameleons. This site is full of experienced keepers and I would take their advice over a pet store employee. The mealworms should be stopped altogether. You can feed crickets, dubia roaches, silkworms, black soldier fly larvae, also known as calciworms, and as treats you can feed hornworms, superworms, and waxworms. As for cage recommendation the reptibreeze xl is relatively cheap and is the required measurement of 2x2x4. You should be feeding about 10 to 15 crickets if that is all you are going to be feeding for now. At this age they eat a lot.
