cut

Dab some Polysporin antibiotic ointment on it. Watch for gum swelling, redness or a build up of "caseous" or pale cheesy stuff in the sore as this can lead to stomatitis (mouth rot).

my chameleon would never relax enough (at least not yet--4.5 month old) to let administer treatment like this... what would you do in this case?

Get a q tip and apply while he/she is on your hand. Most will freeze when they see the q tip. altough i had one that thought it was his new perch to sit on.

I like to treat wounds during the night when the chameleon will hold still at least for a little bit. This tremendously reduces the stress on the chameleon and makes it easier on you. Just hope they don't fall asleep in the middle of their plant.

Howdy,

As do several other local SBCK members, I've got some Silvadene antibiotic (prescription) cream that is vet recommended for burns, cuts etc. on chameleons. If you need some, toss me an email or PM me. I'm around this Saturday and I also do free house calls :).
