Custom cuts of glass?

Okay so I’ll admit this isn’t entirely chameleon related, but involves keeping my critters in general as I’d like to use glass for a few different things. The problem is I’m having a hard time finding a place that sells the glass I’m looking for. Lowe’s only has ultra thin cuts that won’t work for my purposes and the few glass shops I called don’t seem to have anything as well. I need plain glass that’s 3/8-1/2-or even 3/4 inch thick. Anyone know where to go looking? Seems pretty expensive online.

When I was looking online was outrageous. We ended up going with a local glass shop in our area who could accommodate. Maybe a window company or nearby glass shop. We chose to go with the local shop because in the end the price was pretty near online, just a little more expensive local unfortunately, but we wanted to support them rather than pay for online junk.

I have a buddy who works out deals with the local window shops. He buys all the used windows they take out during renovations and uses them to make green houses. Makes a good amount of money by re-using them too.

I’ve seen people do this, it’s a great idea.
