Thanks! I see you have added more pics to! They are all amazing looking chameleons! Monty is my pride and joy, having raised him form 7 weeks old, I was determined that he would survive to adulthood.

From my observations of him growing up (eventually!) I have a theory as to why they grow so slowly. From his weekly weight readings I found that his weight didn't increase by more than a couple of tenths of a gram per week until he got to the stage where he was eating feeders other than just fruit flies. I also think that being so active, it wasn't until he weaned off of flies that he actually consumed more calories than he burnt off and thus put on weight a bit faster. That is just my opinion from what I have witnessed, and may or may not be right, but it definitely makes sense to me!

They do grow slow. I don't know at what age they would be considered full grown. My guess would be at around three years. My last full grown xantholophus was a little over 100 grams at 4 years old.

You've a great job with your Jackson's. I hope you have him a long time.

Three years is more than I expected for a Jackson to be full grown. I hope I get to see mine at that age

Thank you - I have honestly tried my best with him and made sure I do everything as well as I can for him. That is interesting on what age you consider to be adult. I guess they are all different, but houseofchameleons has a year old Jackson who weighs a little over 100g iirc. Monty is 9 months old now and his appetite has slowed down (rather like a Veiled's appetite slows at about 6 months - another thing they do slower!) and he weighs 27g. He moves around a lot unless he is able to get outside where he basks for a while in between wanderings! I was a little concerned about his feeding, but after speaking to the breeder she confirmed that Monty's brother is exactly the same, whereas the females are bigger eaters and one is the same size as the mother chameleon already! Having never seen an adult male Jacksons I have no idea how big he is likely to get, but at this rate, unless he has a serious growth spurt, then he will be quite small - a real Dinky Dinosaur!
