criticize my roach set up

I started up my roach colony last night and I want to know if i'm doing it right.

They are sumarian roaches being housed in a five gallon bucket filled with about 7 or so inches of coco fiber and a bit of orchid bark, I threw two carrots in there last night and removed uneaten bits this morning to prevent mold.

How does this sound, am i doing something wrong?

I assume you mean surinam? and that sounds good. They pretty much just burrow and prefer deep substrate with moisture. Very simple. I don't bother removing the carrots, they don't mold.
