Crickets in Winter

Who does the best with shipping crickets in cold weather? Bueller? Bueller?

I'm not gonna say that they are the "best"........but I got in 1000 from Lazy H Bait in Florida a couple weeks ago during one of our real cold spells. Brad was concerned with whether they would make the trip with the weather we were having at the time and advised against it. I told him "on my dime" that I wanted to give it a shot.

He sends them priority mail from way down in Florida. Usually they arrive in two days but this time it took three. He covered the screen sides on the box and even with an extra day, I don't think I lost more than 50 crickets so I was really pleased.

It's hard to beat his prices too...........$20 with shipping included.

I've found Petco.com to be great for winter shipping. It's a bit more (~$30/1000) but they ship overnight from Timberline and during the winter they put the screened box inside a larger, closed box with carboard to keep it in place.

i second lazy h...ive been going through brad for a while and he always has the best prices and crickets...i just got 1000 3/4s from him the other day and they all showed up fine with no heat pack, but we havent had a bad winter here in NC this year

It's not just about the winter where you are...it's the winter everywhere from origin to delivery. Face it, I'm in San Diego, it was 70 degrees the last shipment I got. I've never had crickets delivered by someone wearing long pants...but those crickets have been in cold during the trip.

What I liked about the Timberline pack was that they used the vented box. They put it inside a larger box.

I ordered my previous shipment from someone else and it arrived in "winter pack" which was completely sealed shut. Their customer service said they put in 25% more to offset the loss in transit.

So....I had a lot of dead crickets arrive with my live ones and somehow, that shipment was never good. They all died off quickly.

i get most of my crix through georgia crix i can say besides the ones the eggcrates falling smooshed i didnt see one dead one they do overnight fedex with their shipping.
