crickets and houseflies

Are crickets that you get from petstores like petsmart breedable? And could I catch a buncha flies outside and then put them in a cage if I want them to breed?

Yes you can breed crickets, I have found it to be a huge pain in the bum. Especially since you can buy crickets for $15 to $40 per 1000.

You can also breed house flies but will have to deal with the smell of rotting meat and veggies.

If you really want to breed insects for food the best choices are Dubias (very popular and easy to keep and breed, and Rusty Reds.
