Well, the other day, Cricket took a fall. He was climbing on one of his various plants and decided to try and make a flying leap for a cord that was way out of his reach so he could climb somewhere else. I have fluffy blankets around all his plants just in case of something like this, but the way he jumped, he did NOT land on the blanket, he landed on the floor, which is hardwood.
As soon as he fell (and I was in the room when it happened, I did NOT expect him to leap out like that, he sits on those plants for hours, we put his heat lamp over there and everything) I picked him up and put him on the couch. He was stunned for a moment or so, went black for about 5 minutes, and then slowly turned back to bright green and started climbing around again. While he was stunned we took the chance to gently check him for any wounds, and he seemed okay.
We put him back in his cage and observed him, and within about an hour, he was acting just like he always does, prowling around his cage, eating here and there, basking, etc etc. We watched him while climbing and walking very carefully and he didn't have any movement problems or unusual behaviour.
Next day, same thing. He was normally-coloured, acting normal, walking normal, being his own normal self. HOWEVER. The Boy noticed that when approaching him from the left side, he didn't react. After some testing, we realized that his right eye is fine, but his left eye couldn't see. I don't have a way of taking pictures at the moment, but to be honest, there's no visible difference. His left eye looks exactly the same as the right, not swollen, not discoloured- with the exception that there was a little bit of clear fluid around the eye-hole.
We took him out of the cage and with a clean cloth wet with warm water we gently sort of dabbed the fluid away. He seemed to enjoy it as he was pressing his face against it and sort of rubbing against it... anyway, after a few minutes of that, he opened his eye and it was bright and clean, and when we tested again, both eyes followed movement perfectly. He proceeded to eat a worm soon after.
Today he's still the same, nice colour, active, acting normal, walking normal, but same thing happened with his eye. We had to clean his eye again before he could see out of it. I'm just sort of wondering what we can do... there doesn't seem to be any big red flags here, but has anyone else had this happen, and what do you recommend? We are trying to find a vet that can handle reptiles in the area but we are having a hard time. Tomorrow we will probably go to the store we deal with because they probably know where to find one. Even if it's in Toronto, we'll go if we must.
But anyways, I'd just like some opinion on this... I know you guys prefer pictures, but we're University students and too poor/cheap to get one. Like I said, though, the eyes look exactly the same, and the clear fluid coming out is not noticeable unless you look close. It also is not a lot, and is only basically in the morning/end of the day sort of thing. He did not have this problem before the fall, because every week at least once we like to check and make sure everything is okay, check his grip (never a problem, for those who read my other thread... ouch...), make sure his eyes are looking like they're supposed to, no limb swellings or contortions, casque hard, etc. So I know that this is a new thing.
Anyways I guess that's all the info you'll need... thanks for advice...
