Cricket Shipment

I just received an overnight shipment of 1000 crickets. Despite being double boxed, they appear to be dead-all of them. I thought I read something about them going dormant in the cold, so I emptied the box into my regular cricket bin and put the bin near a space heater inside my chameleon room. I'm supposed to call the shipper back in a few hours.
Anyone else having to deal with this cricket issue during the winter? I live in Tucson and this shipment came from California.
