Courtship

I don't know steve...
I do the same thing when the "mister softy" ice cream man drives by.
Are you sure he just didn't want some ice cream?

fantastic!

usually you keep them separate?
what is the weight of female?
Yes, I keep them separate for most of the year. Late summer, early fall (southern California) is when most of the mating take place. Weight of female this morning was at 281 grams. I'll try to download video of her leading the male on, with her long tail held up high.

Do you think there has been a copulation? How long is gestation period?

Steve, love that vid it was awesome. I was looking at some of your other vids also. Love the one with your male parsonni eatting the quail chick. How often do you feed him the quail chicks? Is that a monthly treat?

Maybe, they were together for two days, but I had a busy weekend, so not always around to witness. I'll know if something happen, if she has a color change in the coming days.

I offer them in the (higher metabolism) months to adults, and the average is 3 chicks a year for males. Last fall I had one large male, eat 5 in a 3 month period, before going into slow down mode. Females do not seem to care for them, and only one of the females readily (gets excited) eats them. Females only get offered once a year. 2 out of 3 declined last year.
