Considering getting a Jacksons Chameleon this fall...

I can't wait to see pics of your new baby!! I love the horns they look truly prehistoric!

Haha meeeee too! Lol I love the horns too! They look like dinasours :) but it won't be until October maybe when I to a reptile show in Omaha, Nebraksa :) it'll be my first one too!

That's funny... cause I was thinking of getting a female around October also..that's when the Manchester, New Hampshire Repti show is :):):) I was really bummed cause I missed the one in April.

There is something I didn't know! Do you know why they give live birth instead of laying eggs? And are they the only chameleons that do so.

No there are quite a few species that give "live birth". The females actually carry the eggs internally rather than laying them. The major consideration when thinking about getting a jackson's is whether you can provide the proper temps and humidity they will require all year round. Summer heat can make jax keeping much trickier, and winter house heating has it's problems too. They are more sensitive to oversupplementation and diet than veileds are too. You'll need to make sure none of your chams see each other.

Well thanks! I will be sure to remember that but none of my current chams ever see eachother!

I already said I am not rushing... That's why I am waiting for fall or until I move next may. So yeah I am taking care of my chams. And not rushing if you read it thouroughly it says Im not trying to rush to get all of the species I can u am just fascinated by this species.

First of all thats not what i met. Pay attention to the care of your chameleons. What if something goes wrong and you need money for a vet bill..but have so many other things to get for the rest of your chams. If i were you i would wait until at least next year

That is exaclty why I have a job and for some reason it seems like you are considering me poor and not able to take in knowledge? Don't speculate things at all! It's not worth my time hearing you complain about what I am looking at. Trust me I have well enough money to pay vet bills. And for other chams and reptiles. That's why I take them in and keep them as pets it's what I plan on doing as a career and go into sales with this. And I wouldn't be so quick to jump on the gun there bud. How long have you had your pygmies before you got your veiled or more pygmies? Probably now far apart time wise. So don't speculate that why I am researching on this species and that's why it's (Considering getting a Jacksons Chameleon this fall.) not (getting) but (considering)

Relax i am not saying your a bad owner. I bet you can pay for best bills but things can change. Sorry i even said anything Zach. You obvious want the jacksons. Go for it:rolleyes:

Well no! It's uncalled for! Whenever I post a thread it seems like everybody wants to help me and give me the best knowledge when it comes to it! But when you see my post it's like you put me down you don't try to help you make it so I don't want to own chams anymore! That why there is chameleonforums to get help not get put down for every thread posted on here.

Why wouldnt he go for it? Obviously he is trying to get ready and doing his homework. The only thing I can say besides what others have said about temps and humidity is most of them are WCs that you will find. WCs can be tricky to acclimate and dont always do well. Find CB specimen if possible.

Thanks and I will keep that in mind! Do you know of any sites that do sell cb jacksons? Flchams look nice but idk yet.

I'm just wondering how such a nice thread could turn so nasty????? Chamelionrave is jus thinking about getting an Jackson's. He seems that he would be responsible and take care of it in an appropriate manor...so what's the problem?????????????????????????

Ok ok. He do what he wants i just dont want him anything to happen to the rest of his chams. I am no longer saying anything. I did not mean to get nasty and that was not the case. Sorry again. Do what you want and good luck. Not saying anything else. Have fun( no joke):)

I sincerely meant the best and so does the future owner of a Jackson' Cham. I think he will provide the best care possible because he's been doing his recherche. But I have to say that sometimes SENIOR MEMBERS don't get the gist of first time owners and can be rude sometimes. For someone, like me, that only has one male cham..it makes me nervous sometimes even post and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I agree. It's nice that he wants to see the best care for my chams but I won't stop caring for my animals just bc I get another it doesn't work that way...

Perhaps jealousy is a factor. I don't know if you question got answered earlier but no jacksons aren't the only live bearers, a lot of montane ( cooler weather ) chameleons give live birth, as well as dwarf chameleons(not pygmys, dwarfs, from South Africa.)

Here are my 2 Jacksons Aragorn and Arawen. They are spoiled rotten living outside in a 4x2x7 cage with mistking.

Maybe... But I'm not jealous of Stefan he's a nice kid but he should respect others.... I don't have a problem with him but he should respect others....
