hi so new to chams i heard that compact uvb (the regular light bulb sized curly ones) are bad for chams eyes my 2 chams have a 2.0 compact uvb bulb any truth to them being bad and any reasons

At one time there was a manufacturing problem with the ReptiSun CFL UVB bulbs so that they emitted unsafe levels of UVB and even UVC rays, which corresponded to health problems like eye problems and burns in reptiles. This manufacturing issue was identified and corrected by the manufacturer several years ago and thus we have not seen problems with it since then unless someone unluckily picked up an older bulb from before correction. The ReptiGlo CFL UVB bulbs were never associated with these harmful effects. The linear ReptiGlo or ReptiSun bulbs have never had any health problems associated with them either.
You should be using 5.0 bulbs as 2.0 aren't strong enough.

Quite a few people including myself used the compact florescent bulbs. The trick is making sure they are positioned and also using the correct type.
I believe the 2.0 will not give off quite enough UVB and the 10.0 Gives off too much for an average sized enclosure. The 5.0 is what is generally recommended.
There were manufacturing / design issues a few years back that led the CFL UVB lights to cause eye problems of varying seriousness including blindness but the new ones are supposed to be good and I have noticed no ill effects.

my enclosure is 2 feet high by 2 feet wide by 1 foot deep the bulb is maby 8 inches from the branch do you think its not enough?

I personally think that is not enough. Get the 5.0 Repti sun/glow, your Chameleon will thank you.

i use a 2.0 for plant growth where i dont have 6500k bulbs but they all have 5.0 because 2.0 is just no good for chams
