Color

NW chameleon

New Member
I am slightly worried about my chameleon he is almost always a dark and light brown color. He usually turns green when he sleeps but that is about it. His humidity is always between 50 and 70 and his temperature is about 65 at the coldest point and about 85 at his basking area. He has lots of vines and fake plants as well as three live plants. He is in a area that has low traffic in the house and is misted three times a day and has a dripper i let run for 15 minutes three times a day also, He aslo has a fogger set on a timer that runs once an hour. For a light in his cage he has a ceramic heat lamp as well as a night light and a t8 florescent uvb light. I was just wondering if his coloring is something to worry about. He is about 2 months old i believe. Thank you.

Thanks that video and link were really helpful I am going to make a couple changes to his enclosure and try and do a better job with the gut loading and keep an eye on him for a couple days.

I agree, definitely sounds like an issue with your husbandry. I hope you get it narrowed down, and have a happy cham soon!

Definately ditch the night light. I would be using an incandescent bulb between 40-60 watts for heat and a UVB tube bulb. Set them to go on and off with your dawn to dusk time in your area. Only use a ceramic heat emitter if your temps are below 50 at night and if your use one, position it so as not to raise the temps to high at night. Jackson do well with cool night temps.

Also take care not to keep your Jackson and his cage too wet. To much moisture is not a good thing IMO.
