-smiles- haha i planted wheat grass ( Pet grass) all inside the lower half of the enclosure. they dig a little but because of the roots they dont make a mess. same exact system i am doing with the Veiled Chameleon i have. Due to the high humidity that the enclosure has, it grows very well.

Is simple, just get pet grass, plant it around areas that wont be disturbed, and it helps greatly with humidity, plus its a safe snack for most reptiles.

As a great side note, Plant around the borders of a waterbowl, makes for a great marsh like watering hole. my tegus love it!

That's such a great idea! I want to do that for my chams! Even though he'll never get down there. It'll be nice looking and good for humidity!

Also, you're in Concord! Do you go to the shows in Manchester?

I do!s!! its where i got my high translucent veiled, the show on the 29th!

i'm excited for the april show!! You from the area??

HAHAH! I was there too! That's where I got my Graceful! How funny! And I'm from Burlington so if you mean "the area" as in New England, yes. Haha. It's about a two and a half hour drive, which isn't awful. I can't wait til April either!!

Tegus are very smart lizards

I had a black and white tegu until my parents forced me to give him to a reptile adoption agency. They are also sweet animals if you handle them frequently. Yours look very tame and healthy I will definetly try your grass idea the next time I get a tegu

i'm getting a female and breeding them. Not many people breed tegus anymore. so i figured i'd try my hand at it. mine are super well mannered. You can open their mouths without them getting pissy. ( not that i'd recommend it, but they are very very well mannered.)

Oh by the way, alot of monitors love it Too!

My Savannah, RIP... was going to have it too, sadly she passed at 7 months... poor girl. She had a Neurological disease and a parasite in the brain. She never really had a chance.

But anyway, alot of reptiles can appreciate the grass provided that they are from areas with vegetation

There are still a number of people that breed the argentine black and whites (I have a big pair).

The columbians are usually too pissy for most to want to breed them.

Argentines are more tame and intelligent. The black and whites you see on youtube that cuddle up to their owners are argentines, not columbians.

Although most people's experiences with them are rather poor, my pair whom i just learned are actually a male female pair, have never even opened their mouth in a threat let alone made any attempts to bite.

They're also extraordinarily intelligent as far as reptiles go, easily comparable to any other tegu in intelligence and temperament.

They look fantastic, and it sounds like you have a great pair there......... I have wanted to try a Tegu for ages, but there are just limits to the number I can manage even if they are all well-behaved :)

What a good looking pair you have there. I have always wanted Tegus since I first seen them on display at my Local Pet store. they have a Pair of Red Tegus them as store pets. Ever since first laying eyes on them a few years ago I have wanted one, and if I got one it would have been a colombian I wish I had a larger house, right now I only have a two bedroom house and don't have the space for a Tegus.:( For now I will just enjoy others :) Thanks for sharing the pics I am going to try to grow some grass to put into my chameleons tanks :D
