As you've found out (Dr. Greek is great) that appears to be an eye infection. A cataract would be
inside the eyeball rather than on top like that. Nice pictures btw. Usually that is discharge built up from the irritated conjunctiva and does not affect structures within the eye. Keep us posted on her progress but you're on the right track now.
