Hi, just wondering if there are any chameleons not listed on CITES??

I don't beleive Veiled are restricted, but ask Trace, then you will get the correct answer. Also Trace is in Canada.

Here in Germany all "real" chameleons are under CITES, means Chameleo, Furcifer, Kinyongia, Bradypodion and Calumma

Cites isn't for USA or Germany or others, Cites are for all world member of Convention of Washington.
C. Calyptratus are in Cites, like major of chams excluse Rhampholeon.

why would Rhampholeon not be listed in CITES?

All members of the genera Chamaeleo, Bradypodion, Calumma, Furcifer, Kinyongia, Nadzikambia, and Brookesia are CITES listed. Each of those species except B. perarmata are listed on CITES Appendix II with B. perarmata being listed on CITES Appendix I. Rhampholeon spinosus was previously listed in the genus Bradypodion and most of the newer taxonomic changes have yet to be accepted by CITES. As a result, they are likely included in the CITES listing as a Bradypodion species still. All other Rhampholeon and Rieppeleon species are not listed on CITES.

The European Union has additional regulations on what species are legal to import. This is a system of different Annexes where some are not legal from WC sources.

How is it decided that a speceies would be listed or not listed?

# Appendix I includes species threatened with extinction. Trade in specimens of these species is permitted only in exceptional circumstances.

# Appendix II includes species not necessarily threatened with extinction, but in which trade must be controlled in order to avoid utilization incompatible with their survival.

# Appendix III

This Appendix contains species that are protected in at least one country, which has asked other CITES Parties for assistance in controlling the trade.
