cicadas what a tease

well out here in las vegas every summer we get cicadas and my chameleon neptune a male nosy be about 4 months or so is too small to eat any of them cause they are pretty big and these things are every i can catch upwards of twenty a night but i have no use for them cause i dont have anything big enough to eat them well next summer neptune is going to take a chunk out of the cicada population...ps its funny to watch the birds and bats chase them down

You couldbbreed them then you would have little baby ones to feed of right? Then you wouldn't have prob worry about pesticides and other bad stuff.

I think it would take too long to breed them. Aren't they considered the "seven year locust"? I don't know if it takes 7 years, but I have heard of them coming out of the ground in droves to climb trees and molt. I love the sound of them to an extent. It can become quite a drone when the chorus really kicks in.

No I believe that's a different type of bug... I could be wrong. Youre talking about the ones that leave the molts on the trees? I was thinking of the green grass Hopper things.

no these cicadas come every year in droves for about 2 and a half months and they start out wingless and then climb trees and leave their shell on the tree only problem is i dont know how to go about breeding them

Ohhh. Those things are louudd. That would be neat if you could breed them tho. Look it up are they cham friendly to feed?

i heard of people out here feeding them to their veilds and they go ape shit for them cause they fly then land and make their noises also my older brother had a savannah monitor and we used to feed them to it and he just destroyed them with no problem as well as these huge black flying beetles with a mean set of pincers...ile try to get a picture up tonight of the cicadas
