Chemelons and Uk

So as you all know I plan on getting a chemelon in 2 years or so and an doing reserch early. I have read that and received advice that chemelons require good airflow so need a screen enclosure or ensure with lots of ventilation. This makes total sense since they live high up in trees and get fresh air constantly. After phoning a few breeders and reptile shops I have been advised to use a wooden vivarium or glass enclosure with a vented top. One of the people told me that they know of someone who tried to keep a jackson chemelon in a screen enclosure and it died because humidity couldnt be held in. This has got me worried others say that veiled chemelons and Panthers require higher temps and this is hard to keep in a mesh enclosure and even when it is possible the chemelon will spend most of the time basking because of how cold the rest of the enclosure can get. This has me thinking how are these chemelon going to be healthy as there isnt much ventilation on these wooden vivarium.

Mesh and have 2 or 3 sides covered to help keep in humidity. Wood vivariums struggle with air flow and would require more expensive alterations a mesh top and doors at least especially for panther or Yeman 's.

Im not sure depends more on species you plan to keep. Not many wooden vivs are big enough for a panther or Yeman though. If you uk check out muji chameleon cages they awesome

Just checked it the enclosure with the back sides covered and just the top and front door for ventilation seems so good. That might work for keeping in heat and humidity.

Checking the reviews of many repti breeze mesh cages sold at Northampton reptiles many people have given it a 5 star review for thier chemelons so mabye only a few people experience problems with it.

Jackson’s husbandry requirements are different than panther’s and veiled’s. You will be ok with a complete mesh cage for either. @NashansCamos is in the UK and has some good setups.

Ok thankyou for the advice just doing lots of reserch dont want to make any mistakes that will risk the chemelons life.
Hi I'm in the uk and have just set up my first repti breeze (first enclosure exoterra) I have sealed off back and one side with hydroponic plastic and humidity levels seem better than exo but I do have live plants in it . But I will def be getting muji panther enclosure (hybrid enclosure) and they can build your exact specs

Have you always been using mesh enclosures

No first one but this is my first chameleon. Second enclosure for her . I was sceptical at first being in the uk not the warmist at times but definitely pleased so far with results . And slightly surprised I had 4 fans on my exo terra to help air flow but my repti breeze with 2 sides closed is doing a better job imo with humidity.

I am in the uk with 3 chameleons and I actually recommend a hybrid enclosure. It has enough mesh to provide plenty of airflow and is able to retain humidity and heat in a way an all-mesh couldn't do.

If you can't get a hybrid then I would go with at least a 2x2x4 all mesh. The exo-terra glass ones are good because the uk is cold and the glass ones retain heat and humidity good but you'll have to provide additional airflow in some way.

Muji cages are based in the uk and very good https://chameleonworldmuji.co.uk/

I use a reptibreeze and have replaced back with a custom waterproof background. They the now the std (xl for yeman&panther adults) mass produced & somewhat budget. If was planning to get one in two years though would definitely go for a muji or if you where stateside then dragon strand. They both have off the shelf options with regards drainage. Otherwise need to get inventive ?

I will probably save up and get a muji chemelon cage then.
