Cheap Drainage System

So I am working on a drainage system for my Male Panther and Rudis girls. First off my cages are as follows:
Panther: 30"x18"x36" screen cage from Kammerflage I believe. (Got it used)
Rudis: (2) 16"x16"x20" reptibreeze. I took out one side each and attached them together fo it's 32"x16"x20".

So with these cages you can't find any water trays to fit them perfect so I had to improvise. I keep my two cages on a rack system from Home Depot. It stands 36"x18"x72" with ajustable wire shelves.

Material:

Rubbermaid lid size 32"x18"

Sealant:

Catch Tub:
Sterilite 6qrt

Drain tube:
PVC connecter:

Step 1:
Drill hole into Rubbermaid lid directly into the center. I made mine with a 1/2". Ill tell you why later.

Step 2:
Seal pipe connecter over the hole on the bottom of the rubbermaid lid. I used a 3/4" pipe connecter. So i know it will fit well over the hole I drilled and it fits perfectly in between the bars on my shelf. This is the drain. The top os the rubbermaid lid should have a concave so the water drains into the hole.

As I wait for the sealant to dry tonight I will continue tomorrow morning and update.

While the sealant is drying I drilled holes into the bottom of my screen cage plastics. Like this:

Once sealant has dried its time to put everything together. Lay down lid with pipe fitting through the rack's wire shelf. The cage Lays on top of the rubbermaid lid. And the 6 quart tube sits on a shelf under the pipe fitting to catch the water.

Here is the finished product:

Works like a charm!!!

All together I think I spent no more than $40 on making two of these drainage systems.

Sealant-$4-5
Pipe Fittings: $0.50 each
Rubbermaid Lids: $18.95 for two because I had to buy the whole tube with lid. Came in a two pack at Lowes.
Sterilite tubes: $3.15 for a pack of 3 at Lowes. They are 6qrt tubes but not Sterilite. It's a generic brand but does the trick.

Total cost: $27.60 +tax for two set-ups

Tell me what you guys think...

Nice work! I like to use short bins for my drainage too.

Thanks Zamp...Now it's time for me to get my misting system. I've been waiting for the Pomona show. I went to the S.D. show but I was torn. Actually I'm still torn between yours and the King. I wanted to go to the SBCK meeting at your place a couple weekends back but I had work. I tried my hardest to try and get it off but being the asst. manager I was shit out of luck. Are you going to be at the show?
