So I have this 5 month old veiled chameleon ice had her for about nearly 3 weeks. She just doesn't seem to like it being here though. In her cage I sometimes notice she will be covered in dark black dots all over in the day and also in the night she is like it. I have bought loads of new paccessories like leaves and vines because I thought maybe she doesn't feel safe in her cage and wants to hide? I try and take her out once a day by feeding her by hshe will duck her body and if she feels threaten try and dodogde me. If she sees me come in the room she will try and hide I'm not sure if she just doesn't like me. I have her in my bedroom at the minute and was also wondering maybe it's not the best because there's always people in and out and that's causing a lot of stress for her? Please help.

Is that a red nightlight in the second picture? I am pretty certain you can ditch that. Chameleons need darkness to sleep well and the light keeps them awake.

It might very well be a reason why your veiled doesn't seem to like its' enclosure, because it is not able to get the rest it needs.

yes get rid of the red light there needs to be a temp drop as well as it needs to be dark and is your cage glass or screen and how big is it

Yes it's a red night light that I was told to buy from the shop when I bought her. So if I don't have the red night light on what shall she have on in the night? And it's a glass cage. It's pretty big tall wise

You don't need any type of light or heat lamp at night as long as it doesn't get below 50 degrees

You also should not be trying to handle her every day. Some chameleons tolerate it, and some don't like it at all. You should let her get used to being in her new home for awhile, so she feels secure. If there's a lot of traffic by her cage, that may be stressing her, too.

Definitely get rid of the red night light, she doesn't need it. Are you using a bulb that provides UVB?

Here's a link to the Veiled Care Sheet, it has a lot of really good info on it:

When a shop tells you to use a night light on a chameleon, the rest of the care information they gave you is probably pretty poor. You definitely should read the care link already given. You can trust it, and I bet you will find other things that need to change to make sure your cham stays healthy.
