Changes color in record time!

So my cham is 5 months old and really starting to show his color. I have these two pictures to demonstrate how fast he changes his color. He was eating crickets and loving it then I hurried and snapped the first image then 2 seconds later snapped the next one! No flash and i covered up the light. My question is what can I do to make him more comfortable with me? should I just bring the food and let him get used to me? Or will he get comfortable with me sooner if I handle him more? Ive only touched him twice because I had to. my technique right now is just hand feeding him to get him used to me and every day he is more comfortable with hand feeding. Ive only had him for 17 days so should I just shut up and give it time?

For the most part, captive reared pathers tolerate handling pretty well. Of course, you'll have to use your own intuition but, if they're not flailing all over the place and/or trying to bite you when handled and continue to eat normally, I don't believe you're doing any lasting harm.
