Chams in the rain.

Hey all

I was wondering if anyone leaves their chams out in the rain if it does start raining while they are outside in their cages basking in the sun?
Im not talking about typhoon hectic hurrican rain just like a mild rain.

I do leave mine out and they seem to love it (panthers and veileds).
They get very hydrated after a little while in the rain (if it does start raining I leave them out for 15-30 minutes, depending on conditions), I noticed they drink ALOT when it rains.
I dont do this with any young chameleons, only my +-6 month old panthers and my adult veileds.

Anyone else doing this?

well considering it rains in nature where chameleons live, id think it be esential to let them experiance rain. as long as its not poluted acid rain, depending on your location.chameleons survive harsh storms in the wild, but its always nice to know thier safe by brining them indoors :}. i would hope other memebers let there chams experiance a nice rain every once in a while , if tempes are warm enough.

Chams love the rain. It is ok to keep them out in the rain as long as the temperatures aren't too cold.
In the wild, they are exposed to the rain, but if they need to get out of the rain, they will find shelter. In a cage setup, there may not be enough places to get out of the rain if need be. As easy solution would be to put something on top of the cage that would cover about half the cage. Now the cham has a choice of being in the rain or not.
I have done this for many years and work great.
If you have prolonged rain(days and days) with temps being a little cool, you may risk a respitory problem in veileds.
