Chamelon Expert Color Question

In late February I had ordered a Red Bar Cham from FLchams (The breeder was Deonte), He was around 3-4months years old when I got him so I am assuming he is now around 7 months old. I have attached an image of him and only see slight Red in his throat when he does fire up. Is this and red bar cham who has yet to develop his red or is it a completely different color? I seen mostly green and blues so far. I have never owned a cham before and would like an experts opinion. Thank you.

I'm no expert....But from what I've read bars change from blue to red and all over frequently before they develop their adult coloration. Also, I've read in places that just because the sire has them it doesn't necessarily mean your boy is going to as well. The traits are distributed from both the moms dad and the actual dad so who knows what your babies mom dad looked like and has passed on to him.

The truth is its a hurry up and wait game. He's still very young and had quite a bit of changing to do. It can take up to 2 years for his full color to show through. You should check out Dr.Os recent thread. He shows a panther that had a freakish like color change when he saw a female for the first time. After that I believed he stayed like that. Kind of a unique story.
Your panther may or may not ever show red bars. Just because the sire is a red bar doesn't mean all of his offspring will be red bar. You never know what color type his sire was or great grand sire and so on and so on. Plus like the previous poster said the females genetics make up for 50% of the offspring too.
I know a lot of 7 month old panthers can show crazy colors but just because yours doesn't right now doesn't mean it can't change.
Hope this helps
