Chameleon was attacked!

Hey, I'm new on this forum. I think my chameleon was attacked by one of my chickens, he has two holes in his body, one in the ribs and one where his left front leg meets the torso. :(

He's very sad, he can move, but I think hes losing control of his left legs, he is very quiet with his eyes closed, rarely moves, i took him out of his place because the bugs he eats where sucking his blood from the wound. The wounds are about 4 mm diameter and his flesh is exposed. I need to clean his wounds, but I don't lknow what to use! :( :(

Thanks for your help!

I don't think my local vet is qualified for a chameleon, maybe I should take him to the animal hospital?

He's very unconfortable, he can't stand in a normal position because of his damaged leg :(

Do not clean it with anything because the location you describe is right near the lungs and the lungs could have a hole in them. If you wash them could drown him if so. If the wounds are dirty you can gently wipe them with a moist tissue with warm water, but don't flush any fluid into his body. He needs to be seen by a vet immediately if he is going to have a chance, and right now his chances dont look good. He needs to be seen by a vet regardless because if he is not doing well he should be humanely euthanized so he doesn't suffer. I'm sorry.

You should follow the advice below, that is a vet telling you what to do.

This.

Take him to the vet anyway! Even if they "dont see reptiles". If its an emergency, they may be able to help! Im afraid thats his only chance. :(

He needs a vet ASAP. How did the chickens get at him? Did you leave him unattended? I have my fingers crossed for him and hope he pulls through.

The dont look too bad, I was expecting actual holes. He doesnt seem too stressed by it either judging by his colour. I still say a vet visit would be in order though to be sure.

Sorry if you got me wrong, that's not him, it's just a pic I chose to show where the holes are, I'm waiting for my mother to take him to the hospital or somewhere he can be treated :(

The hospital didn't handle exotic animals, but they gave me a contact of someone that did, she told me to buy one of those mouth washers at the pharmacy and mix a little big with warm water to disinfect the poor little guy.

Unfortunately, he didn't make it... :(

Just read the thread.
I can't believe they let you down like that :( such a bad way for a chameleon to die. I am terribly sorry. I hope you had a very good time with your guy as he lived :(

Im sorry for your loss.

Future lung punctures..Best thing if you think it may have punctured the lung is to take a piece of cigarette cellophane or syran wrap (bigger than the opening) and place it over the opening.. Then take him to a vet ASAP.
