Chameleon Sitter Needed....

I have some time but me and my family will be taking a summer vacation and will be gone for about 8 days. We will have people in place to watch our dogs but none of them know anything about Chameleon care.

Is there a network of cham care givers somewhere on the forum? I'm in Houston Texas.

Thanks ya'll.

I had the same problem in September. I had a neighbor take care of mine who had no knowledge of chams. I showed him what to do in depth and also left a care sheet in the room with all the supplies laid out. I was gone for ten days. Not sure if that is an option for you though. I live in North Carolina otherwise I would!

I did something similar while we were gone for 2 and a half weeks.

If you have someone you can trust, have them over a couple of times before you go and show them how everything works, letting them do it on the last few days to show you what they've learned. We did this with my husband's parents, who have never had a pet in their life. They watch out fish, dog and cats along with the chameleon.

Of course, someone who knows something about chameleons would be better, but just in case you can't find anyone!

Well if we have our own place by then we can watch them. I live in Houston as well.

Ok cool. Thank you. I'll get back with you when we get closer. It toward the end of July.

Good idea. Basically all they would have to do is let some feeders loose in his cage and some light floor of cage clean up. Auto mister and drainage will take care of water, timers on lights will take care of that.

It's been hard over the years having folks watch the dogs so I wanted to jump on critter sitter quickly.

How many chams are we talking? I might can do it for you. I'm out in Katy. You would bring to site and not want someone coming into your place, correct?

Just 1 cham. Ego the Nosy Be Panther. Yes, if it's not someone that lives close to me I would pack him up and take him to the person. He will be 10 months old by the time we leave so I could probably get away with putting him back in his 18x18x36 cage for a week and bring a freshly stocked cricket keeper and some silky's or something.

Where in Houston are you? Houston is BIG!

I live in Pearland just off the beltway and Pearland Parkway. I'm in outside sales though so I'm anywhere from Texas City all the way to Katy or up to Magnolia and Tomball. How bout you?
