As most of you are aware my 4month veiled chameleon rarely sleeps in his cage. His lights out time is 6:50 and he comes to front of the cage around 6:20 scratching at the door. He has done this 10times in the 14days of having him. He sleeps on the tree i pull infront of his viv and when his lights come on he heads back in. This isnt problem but has got me thinking is he scared to sleep in his viv? When i got him 2 weeks ago he was in viv with his brothers and sisters

His lighter color and curled up tail indicate to me that he's trying to sleep. Are there any lights on in the room the cage is in?

My chameleons more or less sleep in the same spots most of the time (my panther more than my jax), maybe yours has decided his bed is the plant you put him on that's outside of his enclosure.:p

Mine has 2 spots he alternates between to sleep. They pick a spot they like and stick with it. If his plant grows in the way of his sleeping spot in the front he moves to the back spot until I trim his plant. There funny that way. My guess is, he tried it, he liked it and now he wants it.

Mine sleeps in like 10 different spots just where ever he is at when the lights go out 9 times out of 10 he will be somewhere in his schefflera arboricola but almost never the same spot but sometimes I catch him sleeping up top on a Vine
