How about aromatic plants with pleasant aromas? Maybe keep a mint plant or two in the room?
I remember reading that Jasmine is a good choice too.
Thank you...I do have my moments...
However, stepping out of the chameleon aspect, if your Mom is selling the house studies have found that one of the best things she can do is bake cinnamon rolls right before the people are scheduled to tour the house. Apparently the smell of cinnamon rolls makes people happy and ready to sign contracts.
I would still put the nice smelling plants in with the reptiles, but Mom should flood the rest of the house with the scent of cinnamon, sugar and fat (that's what's in a cinnamon roll).

If you go to a janitorial supply store, you can get these small solid "pucks" that are often used in public toilets in wall fixtures. They are called EZ Vaportek disks. http://www.vaportek.com/
If you get the "neutral" one, it doesnt smell like too much but does work to neutralize odours. They come in a cinniamon amd vanilla scents too![]()
My parents used to use them when they had company coming but hadnt had time to wash the carpets downstairs where the dogs were. They had several large dogs, one of which was a hound. Just one of these pucks nearly eliminated the "dog fur smell"
