Chameleon Questions

I didnt buy them, i had a few left from a friend who gave them to me when his baby leapoard gecko died from a disease of sort. I hand fed him the last 4 i had and trashed em, i dont usually buy mealworms, i give all my reptiles silkworms, superworms and crickets.
No worries ,that is a smart move, its ok no big deal from the past,as long u know now.

There are other feeders for u to choose,im just making some suggestions, the decision will always up to u since u want ur veiled baby to be the BEST health in his life.
Yea, i just order boxes of 1000 crickets from Amazon, i can get them with free shipping with prime, so thats usually what i do.

Actually, you know what, i accidently said silk worms didnt i? I meant waxworms, superworms and crickets.
You should add some silkworm and hornworm in your animals diet. They are very good. I myself don't give them very often but they are both good feeders.

Costal silkworms is a sponsor here on the forums and they sell them but are currently out of stock. And it takes a while for them to become moths. Great lakes hornworms is a great place to get hornworms and they are also a site sponsor. They sell hornworms cups, you get 25 to 30 worms that are about an inch long and enough food for I believe two weeks for about 15 dollars with shipping.

One thing I noticed in your pictures is that you have a vine attached at the top of your cage. I wouldn't attach anything to the top, veilds can get easily burned on their back and casque because they will sit too close to the basking lamp. Attach it to the sides with at least 6 inches of clearance. Just throwing that out there. (y)

Good luck with your new buddy!

Huh, i see him up there quite often, but i notice that he will move if he gets too hot, arent chameleons supposed to be smart? Aha.

100 is to hot. A young veiled should be about 85 and an adult between 85 and 90.
Check ur temp since 1month old veiled are very sensitive with the temperature,u can always drop down the branch so the basking spot can be close enough to 85F,also do lots misting, baby cham gets dehydrated very fast.
Btw, thanks, With the 75W his 2 favorite basking spots are between 82 - 85F, his colors seem to be alot brighter aswell :D

Also veiled are usually the more reclusive cham. They're more of a viewing pet and should only be handled when necessary, like when you're doing a deep cleaning of his enclosure or when you're taking him outside for some Sun. Start cup feeding him and then work your way up to hand feeding him. Every cham's personality is different so just be patient. :)
Yea, after reading around i found out they arent the type of cham that likes to be handled much.. Also, when you said my cage needs to be taller than wide, i am aware, his cage is 16 x 16 x 30, i would never keep my cham in a cage that isnt taller than wide. I will be getting a Pothos aswell for him to climb around on. He also is being cup fed, and he ate out of my hand for the first time just a couple hours ago :p

That's great! Every cham is different my veiled loves to climb on me whenever he knows I'm going to go outside to water my plants. If you're able, you can grow a mulberry tree and they attract silkworms. :)

Eh, ya, id rather not attract silkworms to my house, aha.

Yes, they are smart. They will move to regulate their body temps but they can easily get their back spikes and casque burnt. They can not feel the heat in those places and will have them right up against the light not realizing that they are getting burned.
