Chameleon Questions

The fountain has a carbon pad in it.. From having fish tanks growing up, those are supposed to clean bacteria out of the water.. Weird, but his urate is always white with a little yellow in it.. I will definently mist more aswell.
I will suggest get a bigger screen cage as soon as posibile ,u dont want him live under a "rock" all his childhood,he needs room to grow n be healthy.

Ya, i know.. When i got him i wanted to spend little money possible, so i just grabbed a $80 chameleon kit.. Do you think it would be bad to go from the 12 x 12 x 24 straight to the 24 x 24 x 48? Or should i go for the 18 x 18 x 36? I would like to just go straight for the biggest so i dont have to keep buying them since the 24 x 24 x 48 is only $90, but i want whats best for my Veiled.. Dont really want to buy another $70 cage thats only gonna last me 2 - 3 more months, when i could just spend the extra $20 and get him the biggest size.. But again, whatevers best for my Veiled. Hes grown a about a quarter to half an inch since ive got him... Didnt know they grew so fast..

I understand ur strategy,ur option will be get the biggest cage if ur veiled cham is a male, once u get it ,u can either sell the small cage or save it for another baby later, then section off ur bigger cage if its too big for ur 2 to 3 month old veiled, once he gets bigger, then u can let him use the whole cage which on the adult male veiled 24x24x48 is suitable,or u can do it like buying a car, start with ur own budget, upgrade when u need n sell the old one comes in the new n better equipped, the choice is for u to decide, these are just my suggestion to u.

So probably not a good idea just to go straight for the biggest? Hmm, how much longer do you think he will last in a 12 x 12 x 24? I mean, hes only 4 and a half to 5 inches long.. He would probably last another 2 months right?

Depending on how much he is eating n how fast he grows,I would get the bigger cage asap, since u need to let him get used to the new cage when he is growing into it.its better be bigger than small,u can always section off if need it.
A juvenile veiled needs at least 16x16x30 so he is nearly there.

Ok.. Heres some pics of him and his cage.

And that is a 12x12x24 ??,it look more like a 16x16x30 to me judge by the zoomed dome light on the top screen cage, since the dome light are about 11 inches wide n if its a 12x12 that will cover the width of ur top cage,so I will say u got a 16x16x30

Its ok
No big deal,we can blame it on the pet store rep ,good luck to ur cham,n dont feed no mealworm if they recommend u.

Mealworms have no nutritional value and are hard and that can cause them to get bound up.
Like is said, he only gets a few every 2 - 3 days mixed with his crickets.. I am aware that they have no nutritional value, i have had many reptiles, and am aware that mealworms are not very good for them.

Then why buy them?

Yea, he only gets like 5 mealworms every 2 - 3 days mixed with his crickets.
Ok,Im glad u told me this, and alphakenc I will make another suggestion for u....feed the rest of the mealworm to the United states free wild birds outside in ur yard,n try get some dubia ,silkworm, hornworm, phonix worm, since mealworms are very bad for ur baby veiled .

I didnt buy them, i had a few left from a friend who gave them to me when his baby leapoard gecko died from a disease of sort, and he doesent buy em either, he feeds silkworms and superworms aswell, but he said Petco was all out of em. I hand fed him the last 4 i had and trashed em, i dont buy mealworms, i give all my reptiles silkworms, superworms and crickets.

And I wont steer u wrong , plus it can be very addictive,n it might make ur baby veiled to only eat the mealworm n not taking anything else in the nearest future,I read alot of the post from others, just a friendly suggestion for ur babyveiled

You should try roaches to, my cham loves them and they are very easy to breed yourself.
