Chameleon itching its Eye

So I caught my Meller just now using his back leg to scratch his eye/face area.... He did this about 5 times (only during the time I saw him once he saw me he kinda stopped then did it once or twice more)

Why could he be doing this? That worries me, that means something is bothering his face, and to my knowledge reptiles dont get itchy :(

I'm not a Meller expert, but I often saw my Jackson scratching his eye.. Sometimes it would swell up HUGE and I was like.. Omg, he's dying!! But then did research and found that this was actually fairly normal (as long as it wasn't too frequent and afterwards he looked fine again).

I think there are threads here about eye scratching. I'd search it and see what pops up. That's what I did for my Jackson.

Def keep an eye on him until you learn more.

i have a panther and caught mine scratching both his eyes on branches and with his feet on multiple occassions, i ended up taking him to the vet and after 2-3 months of having a super swollen eye they are saying one is infected. have no idea if its anything related to your situation but maybe call up your vet and ask?

im gonna keep an eye on it.... Get it? Lol right at this moment though they both look fine equally. I read up some other stuff that it could be cause his skin is dry, but I mist him so much and have a fogger on 24/7 I wouldnt think its that. Some say it could also just be an itch from parasites or something else bothering it in that area, or worst of all an obvious infection... Only time will tell I'm just glad I saw him doing it so I can monitor his face/eyes now.

Mine does it from time to time, and nothing seems to happen. He also tends to do it when he's about to start shedding as his face is usually the first place the shed starts. Definitely monitor it and if you see any side effects, vet time.
