Hi, I have two chameleons one panther and one veiled. The veiled is about to be a year old. And the panther is a year old. And they bother have this back infection that really concerns me and I have no idea what is it. And it’s got me so worried. I’ve been applying polysporin because I red that it helps with chameleons infections. But I can’t tell if it got better or worse because my veiled chameleons back is literally almost off. I don’t understand. I have everything right. I changed the bulbs. I gave them food with there powders which they eat fine. I’m just so worried. And I’m out of ideas.

My guy (panther) had something similar, turned out to be a burn from his heat lamp, not saying that is at all but it looked similar. Bubbling like a blister and then black. I’d recommend a vet visit. Sorry you’re going through this, you have beautiful babies. Good luck. I’m sure others will chime in soon.
I am not one of the experts here, but welcome!!! And you have come to a great place for help!

Those are basking lamp burns. You need to use a lower wattage or raise what you have up off the top of the cage. Get a thermometer to check your temperatures at the basking branch.

They will need treatment for those burns to prevent fungal infections. Many people use a silver sulfadene cream. You can get it from your veterinarian.

But the lamps that I got were the same watts as when they were still tiny. And it lasted them a year now with nothing on their backs. that’s what I don’t understand.

It's odd that they did it at the same time. Is the wattage the same but the type of bulb different? Halogen perhaps or more of a spot light?
