Hi, my name is John and I have a veiled sunburst superturqoise chameleon. He recently been having problems with his eyes where they were inflating and deflating then they just deflated and he wouldnt open them. I was told by someone at a chameleon shelter that his eyes were too dry and to give him eye drops (without red relief). His Left eye seems fully recovered now but his right eye is still deflated but he can still look around and see out of it. what else could it be, or should i do to help it?

Hi! I really want to see a picture because the description makes it sound like a freaking beautiful animal....

They inflate and squench their eyes a lot. I would say mist more. Don't be freaked out if misting more makes him do the eye thing more. Just keep misting more. By more I don't mean more times a day, I mean for longer...or put him in the shower for 15, 20 minutes if you can...he needs an extended time with a lot of water. If you can do that every day or two for awhile then keep up the longer mistings this might correct itself.

Sounds dehydrated

Yes he sounds dehydrated to me, mist him. Make sure he is getting enough water. If unsure there is one sure way. Get a tiny 1 ml syringe fill it with water and feed to him 3 x a day, he needs juicy bugs as well not just dry locusts (even gutt loaded). His mouth should be pink, should the roof be grey and his tongue! He is dehydrated. Best of all get him to a vet. I'm a lay person, just trying to help.
