Chameleon eating dirt?

Well if I fed mine adults at 4 months. I should probably be feeding small birds by the time he's an adult to keep it interesting .

On the other hand it´s much more fun for him if you offer small crickets as you can then give him more to hunt ;)
What about my question from before about how much of the specific vits is in your supplement?

This member is spot on, and yet to get an answer.

To keep it interesting? Do you think I am feeding him adult crickets so I can watch him struggle to see if he will eat it and have fun with his misery? Now you are honestly not helping now and just being very sarcastic. I asked because I was curious since this was my first chameleon...

No? You should offer lots of different FEEDERS to offer variety. Size is of minimal importance when it comes to adding interest.

paper towels and multi-vitamins/lighting

I put paper towel down on top of our dirt so the moisture can seep thru (and it makes for easy clean up as well) and dirt stays under the towel. Crickets also have to lay their eggs in the towel instead of the dirt, which means fewer baby crickets running around (as I am tossing the paper towel at least once a week). I usually use 2-3 layers of towels (to keep the dirt down better, 1 layer usually tears way too easy and the crickets find a way under it)

If he (your cham) feels like digging (which some do) he can easily rip the paper towl and it will not hurt him (like digging thru rocks might break a toe). Newspaper is too heavy and will not allow moisture to set thru (not to mention ink is bad for cham). The store bought "carpets" are easily messed up and very expensive to replace all the time.

I prefer the "viva" brand paper towels because they feel like soft "towels" and are very absorbant. (and as I said earlier, easy to clean up after if messes are made)

As for vitamins, I dust crickets every day with a calcium without vitamin D3 supplement except on every other weekend, on weekends I rotate every other weekend between a multi-vitamin dust and calcium with vitamin D3. (this is what I use: http://www.amazon.com/HERPTIVITE-Mu...?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1325016301&sr=1-2) -also ensure you have the right lighting (which is needed for them to absorb the vitamins).

This is what is recommended for optimum vitamin absorbtion: http://www.amazon.com/Repti-Glo-Com...?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1325016594&sr=1-1
